MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The district administration has announced fresh fruits, vegetables, eggs, and chicken prices in Muzaffarabad.
According to the new rate list, shopkeepers have been strictly instructed to display the updated prices clearly, with warnings of legal action in case of non-compliance.
As per the new rates, Grade 1 potatoes will now be sold at Rs70 per kg, while Grade 2 will cost Rs50. Chinese garlic has been priced at Rs510 per kg for Grade 1 and Rs450 for Grade 2. Red onions are set at Rs70 (Grade 1) and Rs50 (Grade 2). Cauliflower will be sold at Rs60 for Grade 1 and Rs40 for Grade 2, while French beans and bitter gourd are priced at Rs130 and Rs100 respectively for the two grades.
Pumpkin will cost Rs90 (Grade 1) and Rs60 (Grade 2). Lemons are set between Rs220 and Rs260 per kg. Spinach and mustard greens will each be sold at Rs35 per bunch. Carrots and peas will both be available at Rs110 per kg. Cucumbers will be sold at Rs80 per kg, while okra is priced at Rs190 per kg.
In the fruit category, loquats and white apples will cost Rs160 per kg, while black apples are listed at Rs310 per kg. Bananas (Grade 1) are priced at Rs210 per dozen, while top-quality oranges are being sold for Rs410 per dozen. Watermelon is available at Rs90 per kg, melon at Rs110, guava at Rs160, and strawberries at Rs110 per kg.
For chicken prices, the live broiler chicken will now be sold at Rs440 per kg. Breeder chicken meat is priced at Rs560 per kg. Desi chicken is listed at Rs1050, and golden chicken at Rs850. Eggs are priced between Rs220 and Rs240 per dozen.
Azad Jammu and Kashmirs (AJK) authorities have warned that traders failing to follow the updated prices or those found overcharging will face strict action under relevant laws.
