PESHAWAR (Kashmir English): The deteriorating condition of the GovernmentGirls’ Primary School located in the remote Loe Shalman/Sheen Pokh area of Khyber District has raised serious concerns about student safety and the provision of basic educational facilities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The school building is reportedly in a dilapidated condition, with its crumbling structure posing a potential safety risk to students and staff.
The situation has also raised concerns about the continuity of education for girls in the remote area, where access to safe and adequate educational facilities is essential.
PTI-Era Governance Under Scrutiny Over Education Facilities
The condition of the school has renewed questions about the attention given to educational infrastructure and student safety during the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government’s tenure in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The deteriorating building highlights the need for effective oversight, timely maintenance, and proper allocation of resources to public schools, particularly in remote and underserved communities. When school infrastructure is left in poor condition, students face potential safety hazards, while families may worry about the quality and continuity of their children’s education.
The reported situation in Malik Imroz Killi raises a broader question about whether the needs of schools in far-flung areas received adequate attention under successive provincial administrations, including the PTI-led governments.
However, determining responsibility for the building’s current condition requires records of previous inspections, maintenance requests, repair allocations and action taken by the relevant authorities.
Recently, a private school roof collapse took the lives of innocent children, after which the authorities have started investigating each school building thoroughly to avoid such incidents in the future.
