MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): Muzaffarabad Food Authority seized slaughtered, unverified/unidentified and foul-smelling goat meat in an operation, according to the officials.
The meat was taken into custody at a checkpoint. After inspection by the Food Technologist, it was declared substandard and disposed of.
During inspection, the meat’s standard and legal status was found to be questionable due to the absence of the mandatory veterinary doctor’s stamp.
According to regulations, all types of meat sold in the market require a veterinary doctor’s stamp and verification to ensure its safety and wholesomeness. However, in the aforementioned case, a clear violation of these principles was found.
The Food Authority took immediate action, seizing the meat and disposing of it.
The Muzaffarabad Food Authority is committed to ensuring the provision of quality and hygienically safe food to the public, the officials said.
