NEELUM (Kashmir English): The Neelum District Administration on Monday lifted a two-month ban on the entry of tourists in Neelum Valley, allowing tourists from across the country to visit the scenic valley.
In a statement, Neelum Deputy Commissioner Chaudhry Iqbal Hassan said that restrictions on the entry of tourists had been withdrawn with immediate effect.
He said tourists could now travel to the valley and visit its various tourist destinations.
Neelum Valley is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Azad Kashmir, with lush mountains, the Neelum River, waterfalls and scenic landscapes that attract a large number of local and foreign tourists every year.
However, in June, due to a shutter-down strike by the Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) and unrest in the region, the authorities had banned the entry of tourists into Neelum Valley.
This ban remained in place for more than two months, affecting tourism-related businesses and activities in the valley. Tourism activities in Neelum Valley are expected to resume after the authorities lifted the ban.
