MANHATTAN (Kashmir English): Peter Greene, a character actor who specialized in playing “bad guys” in films like “Pulp Fiction” and “The Mask,” has died at the age of 60. Greene was found dead on Friday, Dec. 12, in his Manhattan apartment, confirmed Gregg Edwards, his manager, to “Deadline.” It is not yet clear what caused the death of the character actor.
Born: October 8, 1965 (age 53), Montclair, New Jersey. He made his screen acting debut in an episode of the NBC crime drama series “Hardball,” which aired briefly in 1990, before appearing in the film “Laws of Gravity,” shared with Edie Falco, in 1992.
It was a rapid ascent from there. In 1993, Greene starred in the movie Clean, Shaven, which showed at the Cannes Film Festival in 1994. In 1994, he appeared in two major films. He played the role of a heel named Zed in the movie Pulp Fiction, directed by Quentin Tarantino, which won the top honor, the Palme d’Or, at the 1994 Cannes Film Festival.
He played the major antagonist, a guy named Dorian Tyrell, in another major film entitled The Mask with Jim Carrey. Greene has remained active in the entertainment scene since then. Some movies he starred in were Kiss & Tell, Blue Streak, End Game, and The Bounty Hunter.
He had a recurring role on the NBC drama series *The Black Donnellys*. He also had recurring roles in the ABC series *Life on Mars* and NBC series *Chicago P.D.*. He most recently guest-starred in an episode of the John Wick series *The Continental*.
“He was one of the best character actors in the world,” Edwards revealed, sharing that Greene was set to appear in “Mascots” with Mickey Rourke and work on a documentary that he was narrating called “From the American People: The Withdrawal of USAID,” which also starred Jason Alexander and Kathleen Turner.
“He was passionate about highlighting the number of deaths that have occurred around the globe as a result of America tearing apart USAID,” Edwards added. “He was a good guy who would lend you the shirt off his back. He is loved and will be missed.”
