HARIPUR (Kashmir English): The sacked body of Ayat Noor, who went missing 15 days ago, was found in the Haripur district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa late Monday, district police said.
According to details, 5-year-old Ayat Noor, a resident of Naseem Town, left her home to play when she went missing.
Police said that the girl’s body was found in a warehouse well on University Road in Haripur.
The special teams of Rescue 1122 recovered the body from the well and shifted it to Haripur Trauma Center for postmortem, a rescue official said.
Three suspects have already been arrested in the case, including the alleged main suspect, police said, adding that the suspects raped and murdered the girl and threw her body into a well.
Earlier on Saturday, DPO Haripur Shafiullah Gandapur told the media that the arrested accused include Qasim, Usman, and Talha. The alleged main suspect, Usman, has confessed to allegedly kidnapping and raping the girl before a judicial magistrate, a police official said.
DPO Haripur further added that Talha was sent to jail under the Juvenile Justice System due to his young age. Meanwhile, police obtained a two-day physical remand of Qasim for further investigation.
According to the police, the investigation led to the identification of five suspects in the case, and raids are underway to arrest two remaining unknown suspects, adding that further investigation into the case is ongoing.
Earlier last week, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Inspector General of Police (IGP) Zulfiqar Hameed took serious notice of the abduction of Ayat Noor and formed a joint investigation team under the supervision of the SSP Investigation Haripur to probe the case.
The team includes SP Security Samina Zafar, DSPs City and Investigation, IT experts, Counter Terrorism Department officials, the District Security Unit and local police personnel.
The IGP directed the police to use all available resources to recover the missing child.
