ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rain with strong winds and thunderstorms in the upper parts of the country from tomorrow to September 6.
Another spell of rain has been predicted in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and the Pothohar region during the next 2 days.
According to the Meteorological Department, monsoon winds are entering the upper parts of the country, due to which a new series of rains will affect the upper parts of the country.
Due to westerly winds and monsoon winds, thundershowers are expected in different parts of Islamabad, Rawalpindi and the Pothohar region on September 4 and 5.
Apart from Islamabad, Murree, Galiyat, Jhelum, Chakwal, Tala Gang, Attock, Lahore, Sialkot, Sheikhupura, Narowal, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Wazirabad, Hafizabad and Kasur are likely to experience rain with strong winds and thundershowers from September 3 to 5.
Similarly, Okara, Nankana Sahib, Sargodha, Khushab, Mianwali, Noorpur Thal, Faisalabad, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Layyah, Bhakkar, Sahiwal and Dera Ghazi Khan and adjoining areas are likely to experience rain with strong winds and thundershowers at intervals on September 4 and 5.
According to the Meteorological Department, intermittent rain with strong winds and thunderstorms has been predicted in the Neelum Valley, Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, Poonch, Hattian, Bagh, Haveli, Sidhanoti, Kotli, Bhimber and Mirpur areas of Azad Kashmir from September 3 to 6.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Peshawar, Dir, Chitral, Swat, Kohistan, Malakand, Mardan, Nowshera, Charsadda, Swabi, Shangla, Battagram, Buner, Kohat, Hangu, Kurram, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Orakzai, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Karak, Tank, Lakki Marwat, DI Khan, Bannu and Waziristan are likely to experience heavy rain with strong winds and thunderstorms from the evening or night of September 3 to September 5.
Intermittent rains are also likely to continue in Diamer, Astore, Ghizer, Skardu, Hunza, Gilgit, Ghanche and Shigar areas of Gilgit-Baltistan from September 3 to 6.
The weather is likely to remain hot and humid in most parts of Sindh and Balochistan, however, rain, strong winds and thunderstorms are expected in Zhob, Barkhan, Musakhel and adjacent areas of Balochistan.
Urban Flooding
According to the Meteorological Department, urban flooding is expected in the low-lying areas of Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Mardan, Swabi, Gujranwala, Gujarat, Sialkot, Faisalabad and Lahore on September 4 and 5.
In addition, flash floods may occur due to heavy rain in local rivers and canals of Dir, Chitral, Swat, Kohistan, Shangla, Battagram, Buner, Malakand, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, Murree, Galiat, Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
The Meteorological Department has warned that there is a possibility of landslides in the mountainous areas of Azad Kashmir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Murree, and Galiat.
The Meteorological Department has directed tourists and travelers to be cautious during the weather conditions. All concerned agencies have also been directed to remain alert and take necessary steps to deal with any untoward situation.
