ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The Islamic Excise and Taxation Department has extended the required date for motorcycle M-Tag installation until March 5 to provide citizens additional time for completing their mandatory installation requirements.
The government officials announced that M-Tag installation needs to be finished by now because they will implement strict enforcement within the upcoming days, which will cause traffic problems for those who fail to install M-Tags.
The Director General of Excise, Irfan Memon, announced that they extended the deadline for police to improve public access and achieve greater compliance throughout the federal capital area.
The government authorities established M-Tag installation requirements for both motorcycles and cars because they need to operate their digital registration and monitoring system, which enhances traffic management and maintains approved record-keeping practices.
New Schedule for M-Tag & E-Tag
The department adjusted its installation centre operating hours because of rising demand for services during the Ramzan period. Selected facilities will now be operated on 24-hour, 12-hour, and 8-hour shifts.
The Sector 26 center and Phulgran Toll Plaza center will operate throughout the entire day, while other centers will have extended operational hours until the evening. Installation services will be available at F-9 and G-14 police checkpoints from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. The Faizabad Interchange and Gulberg Greens and Milpur centers operate between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., while additional centers near Sabzi Mandi police station and Daman-e-Koh will remain open until evening.
New Dates For M-Tag & E-Tag Installation
According to official data, up to date M-Tags have been installed on 8928 motorcycles, which includes 2069 installations in the past 24 hours. The total number of tags issued to vehicles in Islamabad reached 238080.
The officials stated that they currently utilize every available resource to speed up the process, while they requested residents to complete their installations before March.
