ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has announced a reduction in Liquefied natural gas (LNG) prices, effective from January 1, a day after the government maintained the petrol price for the next 15 days.
According to the notification, LNG prices have been lowered by by $0.57 per MMBTU for Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC), fixing the new LNG prices for the Sui Southern system at $10.21 per MMBtu.
While the Sui Northern Gas system has seen a decrease of $0.50 per MMBTU. The new price of imported gas on the Sui Northern has been set at $11.27 per MMBTU.
Officials said the adjustment in LNG prices is based on fluctuations in international market trends and contractual pricing mechanisms. The reduction reflects lower costs of imported LNG cargoes for January.
Earlier in December, OGRA lowered LNG prices by up to 5.90%, signaling a continued effort to ease energy costs for households and industries across the country.
Experts say this latest adjustment could provide tangible relief on monthly gas bills, particularly for industrial consumers who rely heavily on LNG.
