LAHORE (Kashmir English): Senior Minister of the government of Punjab, Marriyum Aurangzeb, has issued a stern warning to those who are spreading fake news regarding the official plane of the Punjab government, saying legal action will be taken against those who are involved.

In a statement posted on her official X account (formerly Twitter), Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb stated that ”A deliberate malicious campaign of lies and fabricated stories about the use of the official plane of the Punjab Government is being run by known pathological liars and peddlers of fake news’.

She alleged that certain individuals and platforms are spreading misinformation and fake news to mislead the public and damage the reputation of government institutions.

The Punjab Government has decided to move the courts under the Defamation Law 2024 against every individual and platform involved. Disinformation will no longer go unanswered, Marriyum Aurangzeb added.

While giving a strong reaction, she stated that ”Those who think they can malign institutions and mislead the public without consequence should prepare to face the law.”

Punjab Government will seek recourse to the maximum penalty under the law to ensure a clear and unequivocal message: fake news is not journalism. It is defamation. Pathological lying lunatics will not be tolerated. Enough is Enough!, Marriyum concluded.

Earlier, rumors started circulating online that Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s son Junaid Safrdar had used a government official plan to fly to Vienna for his honeymoon following his recent second marriage.

Punjab Govt Plane is in Vienna for Inspection: Azma Bukhari

Earlier, the Punjab Minister for Information and Culture, Azma Bokhari, explained that the Punjab government aircraft flew to Vienna for its required technical inspection.

She stated that the action constituted a standard procedure that the company had to fulfill according to its binding contract. Bokhari expressed that the public should disregard the recent rumors about the flight because they contain false information, while he urged people to work on positive activities.

The authorities confirmed that the inspection process verifies all safety requirements and operational standards of the aircraft. Azma Bokhari used the social media platform X to announce that government aircraft must undergo periodic technical inspections, which serve as a standard maintenance procedure.

The inspections verify aircraft airworthiness and operational safety to protect officials during their government-related travels. She identified proper maintenance schedule adherence as essential for both safety maintenance and operational risk prevention.
