LAHORE (Kashmir English): Lahore has been ranked among the world’s safest major cities, with the lowest crime index among the major cities included in the Numbeo Crime and Safety Index 2026, reflecting improvements in public safety and crime prevention.
According to the latest Numbeo report, Lahore outperformed several major international cities, including Karachi, New Delhi, Paris, London, Washington, New York and Mexico City, in the global safety rankings.
The report shows that Lahore’s Crime Index declined from 36.8 in mid-2025 to 36.2 in mid-2026, while its Safety Index improved from 63.2 to 63.8 during the same period.
DIG Operations Lahore Muhammad Faisal Kamran attributed the city’s improved ranking to the Lahore Police’s effective crime prevention strategy and sustained law enforcement efforts.
He said the continuous decline in the crime index and the corresponding improvement in the safety index reflect the positive impact of policing measures aimed at enhancing public security across the provincial capital.
