PESHAWAR (Kashmir English): Key decisions have been made to immediately provide funds for peace and rapid development in 12 districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

On Monday, a key meeting of the Regional Development Secretariat was held in Peshawar, presided over by Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi.

The meeting was attended by the Corps Commander Peshawar, the Additional Chief Secretary, members of the Regional Development Secretariat, and other high-ranking civil and military officials.

During the meeting, it was decided to immediately release funds for peace and development in the 12 districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while also reviewing the law and order situation, development needs, and issues faced by the public in these areas.

Decisions were made to ensure the immediate provision, timely release, and transparent utilization of development funds to foster sustainable peace and rapid development in Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Tank, and Dera Ismail Khan, as well as the merged districts.

The meeting reiterated the federal government’s commitment to taking effective measures—in collaboration with the provincial government—to address public grievances, accelerate the development process, and establish sustainable peace across these 12 districts.

Progress on ongoing development projects in the 12 districts was reviewed, with an emphasis placed on their timely completion.

Participants also discussed ensuring development planning and resource allocation in light of suggestions put forward by local elders and council representatives.

KP Apex Committee vows to continue IBOs against terrorism

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s (KP) Provincial Apex Committee has vowed that intelligence-based operations against terrorism will continue and all available resources will be utilized to improve the law and order situation.

The decision came at a meeting of the Committee held in Peshawar today under the chairmanship of KP Governor Faisal Karim Kundi, alongside Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi.

According to the statement issued by the Governor’s spokesperson, the meeting directed all relevant departments to ensure coordinated, effective and decisive measures for the complete eradication of terrorism and the establishment of durable peace in KP.

The meeting reviewed in detail the overall security situation in the province and measures required to completely eradicate terrorism and establish sustainable peace.

While emphasizing the need to enhance the operational capacity of the police and Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD), the forum decided to provide these institutions with all necessary resources, including modern equipment, necessary vehicles, armored vehicles, effective weapons, and the required manpower.

The forum reiterated its resolve that the eradication of terrorism and the establishment of law and order in the province are the shared objective and top priority of all state institutions, for which no compromise will be made.

“The meeting decided that the long-standing problems of the people of KP related to education, health, and quality of life will be given special attention because all these issues are directly related to the security of the people and sustainable peace, although this aspect has been neglected in the past,” the statement added.

Furthermore, the forum agreed that special attention will be given to raising the standard of living of the people of KP, promoting socio-economic development and providing basic facilities in the underdeveloped and terrorism-affected areas.

The forum expressed this resolve that all relevant institutions will continue their efforts under mutual cooperation and a coordinated strategy to achieve the common objectives of peace, stability and development.

“It was also agreed that the solutions to the problems faced by the people of KP, including provision of basic facilities and government services, will be ensured. In this regard, public suggestions, needs, and local priorities will be made a part of policy formulation and practical measures,” it stated.
