QUETTA (Kashmir English): In a major counterterrorism success, security forces have killed a key commander of Fitna Al Khawarij, Abdul Baseer, following months of intelligence-based operations in Balochistan.
According to security sources, Baseer was allegedly the mastermind and operational commander behind the attack on the FC (North) Balochistan Headquarters in Quetta on September 30, 2025.
Officials said that since the attack, at least 15 militants linked to the incident had been killed in separate operations, while Baseer had remained at large for several months.
Sources further stated that during a large-scale operation conducted in the Shaban area on the night of May 14 and 15, security forces killed 33 Kharjis.
Subsequent investigations reportedly revealed that Baseer was the commander of the Shaban camp.
Following intensified intelligence efforts, Baseer was tracked and killed on May 20, while one of his close associates was arrested alive during the operation.
According to security sources, Baseer was the son of renowned militant Noorullah, a resident of Gulistan, Chaman, and had reportedly been involved in multiple attacks, including a suicide attack on a wing headquarters in Chaman, attacks on FC posts in Loralai, and quadcopter attacks targeting security forces.
Sources termed the operation a significant breakthrough in ongoing counterterrorism efforts and reiterated their resolve to continue operations against militant networks operating in the region.
