RAWALAKOT (Kashmir English): Jamaat-e-Islami and Islami Jamiat-e-Talaba Rawalakot have given a deadline of June 25 for the government to register and make the IT Excellence Center in Rawalakot permanent.

Addressing the press conference on Tuesday at Rawalakot Press Club, Ameer JI Rawalakot, Sardar Adnan Razzaq, and other party officials demanded that the center not be transferred from Rawalakot to ensure the continuity of IT education and courses for the youth.

The organization has given a deadline for the government to take action, failing which they will be forced to take direct action, including approaching the courts and organizing protests.

Addressing the presser, the speakers said that the IT Excellence Center was established in Rawalakot in 2022 and has provided IT-related education and courses to about 700 students in just three years.

These courses have enabled the youth to acquire employment opportunities at home and abroad through freelancing, and have provided them with decent employment sources without having to go abroad, the Ameer JI said.

The organization has expressed deep concern over talks of shifting the IT Excellence Center from Rawalakot, calling it a tragedy that would be regrettable and would never allow efforts to succeed.

Furthermore, Jamaat-e-Islami also demanded that educational facilities be provided in the Poonch region, including the establishment of a regional office of the Iqbal Open University.

The party has also demanded that an additional budget be allocated specifically for educational institutions across Poonch in the upcoming budget of Azad Kashmir.

They urged the government to allocate 4% of the budget for education in a special budget, as the current allocation of 1.7% is inadequate.

The speakers have also demanded that the Special Education Center be upgraded to a high school instead of a primary school. The organizations have urged the government to address the issues in the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) on an emergency basis.

In addition to that, JI officials demanded that the problems of Poonch Medical College, Poonch University, and Technical College be solved immediately, including the issue of their location.

They have also called for steps to be taken to prove the government’s friendship with education, which would bring prosperity and development to the state.
