In the match played between (IU vs RP) at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, Rawalpindi batted first and scored 156 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs.
Kamran Ghulam stood out for Rawalpindi with 50 runs, while Daren Foster batted aggressively in the end and scored an unbeaten 44 runs. Other batsmen failed to play a big innings.
For Islamabad United, Richard Gleeson, Faheem Ashraf and Salman Irshad took 2 wickets each, while Imad Wasim dismissed one player.
Chasing a target of 157 runs, Islamabad United started aggressively and achieved the target in just 14.2 overs for the loss of 3 wickets.
Sameer Minhas showed brilliant batting and played a smoky innings of 70 runs off 36 balls, which included 7 fours and 4 sixes. Haider Ali remained not out on 26 runs while Mark Chapman secured the victory by scoring 24 runs off just 7 balls.
For Rawalpindi, Mohammad Amir, Jalat Khan and Rashad Hussain took one wicket each.
