ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English):  Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has strengthened security around the city’s Red Zone, placing containers and sealing multiple entry points amid fears of possible protests.

The authorities have requested that citizens refrain from entering the high-security area until they receive further instructions. According to an ITP official, all Red Zone entry and exit points have been closed, which permits only essential personnel to enter the area.

The authorities have established stricter access rules, which now prevent entry through Margalla Road and the route near the Marriott Hotel based on the updated Red Zone entry schedule.

Traffic wardens have been assigned to major intersections to direct drivers while they maintain traffic operations on other routes. Officials urged citizens to cooperate with law enforcement and strictly follow official instructions to avoid inconvenience.

The Red Zone contains various important government institutions, which include the Parliament of Pakistan, the Supreme Court of Pakistan, the Prime Minister’s Office, and multiple foreign embassies.

Police Emergency Helpline

Citizens can access real-time updates through the Police Emergency Helpline “Pucar-15” and the Traffic Helpline 1915.

The authorities increase their security measures during protests and political events, and other crucial activities in this region. Authorities said the situation is being closely monitored, and further road closures or security measures may be implemented if required.
