ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): In a move to further streamline the driving license system, the “urgent fee” has been completely abolished by Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP).
All citizens will now receive expedited service at the standard (regular) fee rate.
According to details, the ITP has simplified the driving license system for the convenience of citizens by eliminating the urgent fee.
Additionally, the processing time for a regular license has been reduced from two weeks to just three days.
This step was taken under the directives of Islamabad Inspector General of Police Muhammad Sohail Chaudhry to accelerate the licensing process and make it as convenient as possible for citizens.
Citizens will no longer need to pay any extra (urgent) fee to obtain their licenses quickly; everyone will receive priority service at the regular fee rate.
Under the new policy, applicants can have their driving licenses delivered directly to their homes within just 2 to 3 days at no extra cost; they simply need to provide their home address on the application form.
Citizens wishing to obtain a driving license will now only need to visit the ITP office once, where all necessary procedures—including medical and physical tests and photography—will be completed.
The traffic police have also greatly simplified the procedure for license renewal and obtaining duplicate licenses.
Citizens visiting ITP offices or police facilitation centers can now obtain their renewed or duplicate licenses within just one hour upon payment of the prescribed fee.
The urgent fee has been abolished for these services as well. The primary objective of this reform system is to eliminate long waits for citizens, simplify procedures, and make driving license services more accessible to the residents of Islamabad.
