ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Authorities have announced extensive traffic restrictions in Islamabad ahead of the arrival of foreign delegations, with major roads facing closures and diversions across the federal capital
The Islamabad Traffic police has said that all heavy traffic coming from any direction or from any highway will remain closed in the federal capital.
Except for Marriott and Margalla Road, all entrances to the Red Zone will be completely closed for all types of traffic.
There will be diversions for traffic from Koral to Faizabad on the Expressway, Murree Road, and Club Road. Srinagar Highway will be completely closed from Zero Point to Dhokari Chowk.
Residents of Islamabad should implement the following alternative traffic plan in case of the closure of various roads. Traffic coming from Faisal Avenue to Zero Point will be diverted to 9th Avenue.
In case of closure of Koral Chowk from Zero Point, Srinagar Highway can be reached using 9th Avenue via Stadium Road, Murree Road using Chandni Chowk to Rawal Road via Koral.
In case of closure of Park Road to Club Road, traffic will be diverted to Taramri Chowk. Citizens coming from Bhara Kahu to Rawalpindi should use Korang Road, Bani Gala, Lehtrar Road.
Citizens coming from Rawalpindi Saddar to Islamabad should use any of the highways from Karnal Sher Khan Road to Faqir Api Road or 9th Avenue.
Heavy traffic from GT Road, Peshawar to Lahore should use Taxila to Motorway, Chakri Interchange, Chak Belly Road to Rawat GT Road. Heavy traffic from GT Road Lahore to Peshawar should use GT Road Rawat to Chak Belly Road to Chakri Interchange and travel via Motorway to Taxila.
