Islamabad Talks: US, Iranian delegations arrive in Pakistan for historic negotiations

ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Pakistan is all set to host the historic ‘Islamabad Talks’ between the United States and Iran after the arrival of high-level delegations from both the US and Iran on Saturday, April 11, 2026.

Pakistan has expressed hope that Washington and Tehran will “engage constructively” in Islamabad to secure a durable end to the Middle East conflict. Hosted by Pakistan, the talks aim to build on a fragile ceasefire and explore avenues towards a broader agreement.

PM Shebaz met Iranian delegation

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif held a meeting with the Iranian delegation at the Islamabad Talks today.

The Iranian side was led by the Honorable Speaker of the Iranian Consultative Assembly, Mr. Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, assisted by Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mr. Abbas Araghchi.

Appreciating Iran’s engagement in the Islamabad Talks, the Prime Minister affirmed Pakistan’s sincere resolve to continue playing its role as a mediator to help build momentum towards achieving meaningful results in the interest of regional and global peace and stability.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshall Syed Asim Munir and Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi attended the meeting from Pakistani side.

PM Shehbaz, US VP JD Vance meet

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a bilateral meeting with United States Vice President JD Vance as the Islamabad talks set to commence, the Prime Minister’s Office said in a statement.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Interior Minister Senator Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi were also present on the occasion.

“The U.S. Vice President was assisted by Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Mr. Jared Kushner,” the PMO said.

Commending the delegation, the prime minister expressed hope that the talks would serve as a stepping stone toward durable peace in the region.

He reiterated that Pakistan remains committed to continuing its facilitation of both sides in efforts to achieve sustainable peace in the region.

US Vice President JD Vance lands in Islamabad

A high-level United States delegation, led by US Vice President JD Vance, arrived in Islamabad on Saturday morning for talks with Iran, the Foreign Office spokesperson said.

Special Envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner also landed in the federal capital today to participate in the Islamabad Talks.

The US delegation was received by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, and Minister for Interior Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi upon arrival, the FO said.

Iran’s delegation consists of 71 members

Iran’s delegation visiting Islamabad for negotiations with the US consists of 71 members, the Iranian Tasnim news agency reported.

The delegation is headed by Speaker Iran Parliament Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, Central Bank of Iran Governor Abdolnaser Hemmati, Supreme National Defence Council Ali Akbar Ahmadian, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Kazem Gharibabadi, and Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Esmaeil Baghaei.

Iranian delegation reaches Pakistan

A high-powered delegation of the Islamic Republic of Iran, led by Speaker of the Iranian Parliament Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, along with Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, arrived in Islamabad Friday night to participate in the Islamabad talks.

According to the official sources, the Iranian delegation was received by Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, along with Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshall Syed Asim Munir, and Minister for Interior Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi upon arrival.
