ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The federal government on Saturday provided 30 new vehicles to 27 Islamabad Police Stations after 14 years and has also announced the recruitment of 9,000 new police personnel to address the shortage of staff.
A ceremony was held to hand over the new vehicles to Islamabad Police at the Convention Center, where Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry distributed the keys among police officials.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mohsin Naqvi said modern policing was not possible with inefficient vehicles and stressed that police requirements must be met in a timely manner to ensure effective public service.
He said that the response time of the police will be improved with the new vehicles, adding that all necessary resources are being provided to ensure the safety and security of the public.

Naqvi further added that with the provision of resources, the police will be able to fulfill their responsibilities in a better manner.
“Along with this, work is also underway on the construction and upgradation of all police stations in Islamabad, which will be completed soon,” he stated.
The interior minister further added that the use of electric vehicles is part of an environment-friendly policy and their use will significantly reduce petroleum costs.
On this occasion, Minister of State Talal Chaudhry said that logistics are also being provided to the officers and houses are being built for them.
He added that work is also underway on the construction and renovation of all 27 police stations, and the construction work will be completed at all police stations this year.
The Minister of State said that 9,000 new personnel are being recruited on merit to fill the shortage of personnel.
Chaudhry further said that with all these steps, Islamabad Police will be made a model for the entire country. “All this change has come in the last two years,” he stressed.
The ceremony was also attended by the Federal Secretary of the Interior, IG Islamabad Police, and top police officers.
