ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The Islamabad administration has decided to close a few educational institutions from tomorrow, September 22, ahead of the planned long marches by political parties and farmers in the federal capital.
According to sources, 24 schools and colleges will be shut down across the capital territory to accommodate additional police and law enforcement personnel set to be deployed to oversee the security situation.
These educational institutions are located in various sectors including Sector G-6, F-6, F-7, G-7, G-8, G-9, G-10, G-13, I-9, I-10, H-9 of Islamabad will remain closed.
The institutions in rural and suburban areas, including Bari Imam, Malpur, Taman, Tarnol, Sihala, Pagh Panwal, and Rawal Dam, will also remain closed.
Under the temporary arrangements, principals and non-teaching staff will continue to report for duty, while teachers and students will remain away from the campuses.
Officials from the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) said online classes would be arranged where feasible, with lectures and daily assignments circulated through WhatsApp groups.
As per reports, more than 22,000 security personnel will be deployed in Islamabad under the supervision of 8 Deputy Inspector Generals (DIGs), while 30,000 personnel will be deployed in the Attock district, which connects Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with Punjab.
The Rawalpindi Police has called another 9,000 personnel to assist in security operations during protests.
On the other hand, a large number of containers are being placed to block 30 entry points of twin cities and major thoroughfares to prevent possible protests and rallies from reaching the federal capital.
