TEHRAN (Kashmir English): Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Sayyed Mojtaba Khamenei, has emphasized the need for effective measures to increase the country’s population, stating that Iran’s rise as a major and influential power is directly linked to its growth in terms of population.
According to Iranian media, in a message issued on the occasion of National Population Day, the Supreme Leader highlighted the need of increasing the birth rate and also called for heightened efforts to promote childbearing.

The Iranian Supreme Leader was responding to a letter from workers in the population sector, which expressed condolences and affection on the martyrdom of his father, Ayatollah Khamenei.
He said that the need for population growth is sometimes seen merely as compensation for past policy shortcomings, but it also has a more important strategic aspect.
He said that by implementing a correct and certain population growth policy, the ‘great Iranian nation’ will be able to achieve major roles and strategic successes in the future and take big steps towards the formation of a new Islamic Iranian civilization.
He recalled that the late Leader attached great importance to this topic in meetings and correspondence with public and private audiences, adding it is one of the most important strategic issues of the Islamic system.
He also praised the population workers and encouraged them to continue their efforts.
He said their efforts in the population sector and promoting the trend of childbearing can have a significant impact on achieving a bright future adding the continuity of the Iranian nation’s strength is directly linked to population growth.
