TEHRAN (Kashmir English): Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi expressed his gratitude to Pakistan’s government and citizens because they showed their support for Iran during the current US and Israeli military attacks.

The statement comes amid escalating tensions in the Middle East after the US and Israel launched attacks on Iran on February 28, with Tehran retaliating by targeting US bases across the Gulf region, including Saudi Arabia, with missiles and drones.

The Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Pakistan announced on the Senate floor that Pakistan would organize peace negotiations between Tehran and Washington while supporting Iran’s nuclear energy development for peaceful uses.

Trump on Sunday insisted that nations that depend on Gulf oil supplies must assume responsibility for safeguarding the Strait of Hormuz, which serves as a transit route for 20 percent of global energy shipments.

However, Trump’s requests for a coalition to assist with reopening the strait encountered resistance from Japan and Australia, who announced they would not dispatch navy forces to the Middle East for maritime security operations in that essential waterway.
