UAJK celebrates International Mother Language Day with grand seminar

MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir organized a seminar on the occasion of International Mother Language Day, highlighting the importance of cultural heritage.

The seminar was attended by distinguished Professor Dr. Nadeem Haider Bukhari, Chairman TEVTA Chaudhry Muhammad Farid, Secretary Education (Schools) Inayat Ali Qazi, DPI Colleges Prof. Dr. Abdul Rehman, Linguist Dr. Saghir, Hindco poet Habib-ur-Rehman.

Senior Producer Chaudhry Khalid Mahmood Director of the Institute of Languages ​​Dr. Zafir Kiani and others also participated.

Poet of Pakistan Syed Habib-ur-Rehman, Syed Muhammad Hussain Shah, and others delivered insightful speeches in the seminar.

Acting President Chaudhry Latif Akbar, addressing the audience in his native Gujri language, stressed the urgent need for the revival and preservation of regional languages. He also reiterated the commitment to include local languages ​​in the education system.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Kaleem Abbasi, fulfilling a long-standing academic and cultural need, announced the launch of language courses, including Kashmiri, under the Institute of Languages.

At the event, students of Postgraduate College (Women) Muzaffarabad presented beautiful performances in different mother tongues, in which the richness of linguistic heritage was celebrated.

Talking to Kashmir Digital, Acting President Chaudhry Latif Akbar said that the seminar at the University of Kashmir is the first step, we have formed a committee, and we will include mother tongues in the curriculum.

He said that we will work for the revival of extinct mother tongues and will start courses to teach Kashmiri, Gojri, and Kashmiri in the university.
