SRINAGAR (Kashmir English): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has said that Indian forces’ ongoing campaign of arrests, crackdowns and other brutalities will never succeed in suppressing the Kashmiris’ just demand for a UN-mandated plebiscite.
According to Kashmir Media Service, APHC spokesman Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas, in a statement, denounced the surge in Indian atrocities, including curbs on political activities, house raids, attaching properties and ongoing house raids and cordon and search operations in the occupied territory.
He paid tribute to the martyrs of the June 11, 1991 Chhota Bazaar massacre and emphasized that the mission of the Kashmiri martyrs will be accomplished at all costs.
Indian forces personnel had martyred dozens of innocent Kashmiris by firing indiscriminately on innocent and unarmed shopkeepers, passers-by, women and children in Chhota Bazaar area of Srinagar on June 11, 1991.
He stressed that such massacres and continued repression cannot break the will of the Kashmiri people, adding despite India’s brutalities, Kashmiris remain steadfast in their struggle for freedom.
He also condemned the misuse of draconian laws like the Public Safety Act (PSA) and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), under which thousands of Kashmiri political leaders and youth remain imprisoned simply for demanding their internationally recognized right to self-determination.
Indian state terrorism in occupied Kashmir
The APHC urged the United Nations Secretary General, António Guterres and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Secretary-General Hissein Brahim Taha to take urgent notice of Indian state terrorism in IIOJK and play their role in pressuring New Delhi to resolve the Kashmir dispute in line with relevant UN resolutions.
