LONDON (Kashmir English): According to the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency of the United Kingdom, a new pill that can be taken every day to help with weight loss has been approved.
The name of the drug that has been approved is orforglipron, which will be sold under the name of Fondayo. The company Eli Lilly is the creator of this drug. This means that the United Kingdom is the first country in Europe to approve the new pill, which helps with weight loss and type 2 diabetes.
Foundayo is a new type of GLP-1 medication, which blocks hunger; this is approved after the approval of Wegovy, a free pill version of a similar weight-loss drug. Orforglipron works like other medications that activate GLP-1 receptors in the body, thus helping to lower blood sugar levels, slow down the food movement in the digestive system, and reduce appetite.
The medication has been approved in combination with a low-calorie diet and regular physical activities for people who have a BMI of over 30. The drug may be used by people who have a BMI between 27 and 30 and another health problem that is related to their weight.
One of orforglipron’s most distinct qualities is that it is consumed just once per day and at any time of the day. It doesn’t have any limitations when it comes to what food and drink can be consumed with it.

According to specialists, a GLP-1 pill that is taken once daily can be good news for patients who would rather take tablets than anything else to lose weight.
One of the researchers, Dr Simon Cork, noted that, even though Foundayo’s effects in terms of weight loss are slightly less pronounced than those of some other medications, results can still be “significant and clinically relevant”.
Moreover, he mentioned that one of the main pros of using this medication is that it will most probably be cheaper compared to other weight loss means.
As specialists point out, Foundayo can be extremely useful for people who have just stopped using injections for weight loss.
