MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): Daily life is almost paralysed at uppercut reaches of the Neelum and Leepa valleys of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) since communication blockage after the region received the heaviest snowfall of the season.
Various upper reaches of Azad Jammu and Kashmir including Neelum and Leepa valleys received heaviest snowfall of the season, leaving the life paralysed.
Roads leading to the snow-clad Neelum and Leepa valleys were partially closed due to the snowfall, which continued on Friday.
Muzaffarabad gets snowfall after long time
AJK metropolis Muzaffarabad received snowfall after a long time of 44 years. The last time the state capital experienced the snowfall was in 1982, according to the officials.
The heaviest snow and rainfall since late Thursday chilled the atmosphere on both sides of the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir, with Meteorological Department predicting moderate rain in plains and continuation of heavy snowfall in upper reaches during the next few days.
Some parts of Mirpur, Kotli and Bhimber districts of this division received light downpour on Thursday and Friday.
Due to the influence of Western disturbances over the Indian-occupied Kashmir, it is likely that moderate to heavy rains or snow would continue to fall at various upper parts of both sides of the Himalayan state during next 24 hours.
