MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): In a strongly worded video message, Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, the General Counsel of Sikhs for Justice (SFJ), has urged the Sikh community not to support a war against Pakistan, warning that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeks to sacrifice their lives for his political survival.
The Gurpatwant Singh Pannun message directly addressed Sikh youth and their families, stressing that any military conflict with Pakistan would not serve the nation’s interest, but rather Modi’s political ambitions. He warned that the current tensions are being manufactured by the Indian leadership to influence upcoming elections.
“Modi is not fighting for the country, he is fighting to save his political career,” Pannun said, urging Sikh youth to avoid joining the Indian Army. “Before enlisting, ask your parents, does it make sense to die defending Modi’s politics?”
The Gurpatwant Singh Pannun message resonated with concerns over the Hindutva-driven policies of the Indian government. He further questioned the value of risking lives in a conflict that benefits only a political agenda. “Do not let Hindutva’s agenda orphan you,” he said, warning that Modi’s government was using the Sikh community as pawns in a larger political game.
As part of the campaign, SFJ released another video showing Khalistan flags and pro-Pakistan slogans like “Pakistan Zindabad” and “Khalistan Zindabad” displayed near the Patiala Army Cantonment. The message featured in the video warned Sikh students not to fall into Modi’s trap, stressing, “He will orphan you for his war.”
In the closing remarks of his address, Gurpatwant Singh Pannun’s message called on Sikh youth to support Khalistan, reject Modi’s war narrative and refuse to fight against Pakistan. “Tell your parents to stand with Khalistan. Say no to Modi’s war. Say no to fighting Pakistan. Free Punjab from Indian occupation,” he said.
Pakistan has consistently maintained a strong and principled stance for peace in the region while remaining fully prepared to defend its sovereignty. Messages like these from international Sikh leaders reflect the growing discontent within minority communities in India regarding New Delhi’s aggressive posture.
The Gurpatwant Singh Pannun message serves as a powerful reminder of the real cost of war, especially when driven by domestic political motives and reaffirms Pakistan’s position against regional destabilisation.
