Govt will continue to provide all possible relief to people: PM AJK

MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) cabinet Tuesday approved the revised development and non-development budget for FY 2024-25 and FY 2025-26, it was officially said.

The meeting also approved the Finance Bill 2025, an AJK government statement issued on Tuesday said.

Addressing the 31st cabinet meeting AJK Prime Minister Chudhary Anwar ul Haq reiterated his government’s commitment to eradicate backwardness through fair distribution of funds and uniform development across all areas of the liberated territory.

The meeting was attended by the cabinet members, secretaries and other relevant authorities.

Speaking on the occasion, the PM stated that the sense of deprivation amongst masses could be redressed only through a people-friendly budget.

He said that improving key government sectors, particularly health care and education, were among his government’s top priorities.

He said that the policy of austerity would continue to prevent misuse of public funds.

The Prime Minister said that the government was cognizant of the problems being faced by the ordinary citizens. He said that the coalition government was moving forward with a coordinated strategy to address economic challenges.

AJK development

The government, Haq said, has been able to overcome shortcomings in the system and the state resources were being utilized and spent for the wellbeing of the people.

“The government will continue to take steps to provide all possible relief to the people,” the PM added.

Earlier, the finance secretary gave a detailed briefing regarding the Revised Budget 2024-25 and the Development and Non-Development Budget 2025-26 whereas the Secretary Inland Revenue briefed the participants of the meeting regarding the Finance Bill 2025.
