ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): In a major relief to consumers, the Pakistani government slashed the price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) at the start of the new fiscal year, bringing down its cost by Rs. 67.33/kg for July.
As per a notification issued by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), the new official LPG price will be fixed at Rs. 241.43/kg as opposed to the previous rate.
This reduction also means that there are significant savings in households’ pockets when it comes to the 11.8 kg domestic cylinders, as they have become Rs. 794.05 cheaper for July.
“The revised prices will be applicable across all of July, providing welcome respite from the cost pressures that many home and business customers have faced recently,” she said.
“This latest reduction takes effect as world energy prices are stabilising and should help reduce some of the heat on household fuel bills – particularly in places where there are challenges to accessing natural gas, and LPG remains the predominant cooking fuel.”
