ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MoIB) on Thursday dismissed the viral notification circulating on social media claiming that the official working week is reduced to four days.
In a post on X, the ministry’s fact-checker account said that “a notification circulating on social media claiming changes to the Government of Pakistan’s working days is fake.”
“The public is advised not to believe or share such misleading content and to rely only on official government channels for authentic notifications and announcements,” it stated.

The viral notification, dated September 16, claimed that the government has approved a four-day working week for government departments.
The notification appeared to have been issued by the Cabinet Division and added that Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday will be considered working days, with Friday, Saturday, and Sunday designated as off days.
The fake notification followed reports that the government has been mulling over imposing a smart lockdown amid rising fuel prices and disruptions to oil supplies due to the renewed tension in the Middle East.
However, a few hours after the notification was debunked, the government unveiled the austerity and fuel-conservation measures for government departments and officials, with early closure timings for markets, restaurants, and other commercial establishments.
