ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The government has decided to deploy Army across the country due to security concerns during the month of Muharram-ul-Haram.
The Ministry of Interior issued a notification to deploy the army in Azad Kashmir, all four provinces, and Gilgit-Baltistan due to security reasons.
All four provinces and Gilgit-Baltistan had requested for army deployment. The Ministry also issued a notification for army deployment in federal capital Islamabad.
Muharram processions
According to the notification, the army will perform security duties to assist civil institutions. It is worth noting that processions are taken out on Ashura in Azad Kashmir.
According to the notification, the number of troops and the deployment area will be determined by Azad Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, and provincial governments, and stakeholders will also be consulted in this regard.
