Gilgit-Baltistan general elections to be held on June 7

GILGIT, Pakistan (Kashmir English): Chief Election Commissioner Gilgit-Baltistan, Raja Shahbaz Khan has said that general elections in the region will be held on June 7, 2026.

He released the elections schedule on Monday. It said that nomination papers will be submitted from April 16 to 20.

The preliminary list of candidates will be released on April 21. Scrutiny of papers will be completed by April 28 while decisions on appeals will be made by May 9.

According to the schedule, candidates can withdraw papers until May 11. Election symbols and the final list will be released on May 12.

Gilgit-Baltistan elections

Polling will be held on the same day in all 24 constituencies of Gilgit-Baltistan. Arrangements for transparent and impartial elections in Gilgit-Baltistan have been completed, Election Commissioner GB said adding peaceful elections will be ensured with the cooperation of all institutions.

Election Commissioner further said that Local Body elections will be held on June 14. The schedule for Local Body elections will also be released soon, he added.
