ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): In full compliance with PEMRA order, Geo News broadcasts on social media and other platforms have come to a halt.

Geo News management’s swift, firm, and responsible decision to heed the sensitivity of the situation and public sentiments is being widely praised on social media, where users are calling this bold move of admitting fault and opting for a digital blackout themselves, instead of playing the traditional card of stubbornness or victimhood, an exemplary model for other media houses.

According to reports, the owners and senior management of Pakistan’s largest private media network, Geo News, have made a crucial, immediate, and responsible decision, understanding the sensitive situation and the delicacy of public sentiments that have recently arisen.

Geo News management formally apologized for alleged negligence in a program, and temporarily suspended its broadcasts and all digital platforms, deeply respecting public sentiments.

The reputation of the entire institution was at stake due to the alleged negligence and negligence of a few individuals in a recent program.

However, Geo management immediately acknowledged the seriousness of the matter and, contrary to traditional oversight, took strict disciplinary action against all responsible individuals involved in the production and broadcasting of the relevant program.

This is being hailed as an important and positive example of self-accountability and responsible conduct in the media industry.

According to reports, a serious mistake occurred in a specific Geo News program due to alleged lack of monitoring and editorial oversight, which deeply hurt public and religious sentiments.

Geo management, respecting public and religious sensitivities, did not merely issue a written apology, but through its temporary digital blackout, sent a clear message that it is fully aware of the sensitivity and seriousness of the matter.

Immediately after suspending live streaming on YouTube, Geo has now also shut down on ‘Tamasha App’, one of Pakistan’s most popular and widely watched OTT platforms.

The sudden disappearance of Geo’s live feeds from the ‘Tamasha’ app confirms that Geo management has completely disconnected itself from the internet and all third-party streaming platforms.

Millions of mobile internet users in Pakistan, who used to visit the ‘Tamasha App’ to watch Geo News’ live coverage, talk shows, and breaking news, are now unable to find Geo’s logo and feed on this streaming service.
