ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): A significant increase in flour prices has been recorded across several cities of Pakistan over the past week, with the price of a 20-kilogram flour bag rising by up to Rs100, according to the latest data released by the Bureau of Statistics.
The report showed that Islamabad recorded the highest price in the country, where a 20kg flour bag reached Rs3,133. The same bag was priced at Rs3,100 in Peshawar and Rs3,093 in Rawalpindi.
In Karachi, the price increased by Rs100 during the week, taking a 20kg flour bag to Rs3,000. Larkana also recorded a Rs100 increase, with prices reaching Rs2,600.
According to the statistics, a 20kg flour bag is being sold for Rs2,960 in Bahawalpur, while consumers in Bannu are paying up to Rs2,950 after a weekly increase of Rs50.
In Hyderabad, Multan, Sialkot and Gujranwala, the price of a 20kg bag stands at Rs2,800. The same quantity is being sold for Rs2,793 in Sargodha and Rs2,750 in Quetta.
The Bureau of Statistics further reported that flour prices in Sukkur increased by Rs60 during the week, taking the price of a 20kg bag to Rs2,560.
Lahore and Faisalabad remained comparatively cheaper than other major cities, with a 20kg flour bag selling for Rs2,300 and Rs2,200 respectively.
