ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Out of 13 constituencies in Mirpur Division, unofficial official results for 12 constituencies have arrived and some major upsets have been reported.
Results have been withheld in the Samahni constituency due to the burning of votes though PML-N candidate Chaudhry Muhammad Razzaq is leading the contest.
Out of 13 constituencies, candidates of PML-N won 9 constituencies while PPP has achieved success on 4 seats.
Former Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwar-ul-Haq, President of PPP Azad Kashmir Chaudhry Muhammad Yasin on his ancestral seat Charhoi, and former government minister Javed Iqbal Badhanvi have met defeat.
AJK election results
Five candidates from PML-N have succeeded in reaching the assembly for the first time. They are Raja Riyasat Khan from Charhoi, Sardar Umair Naeem from Nakyal, Raja Asif from Sehnsa, Raja Ayaz Nisar from Khoiratta, and Chaudhry Razzaq from Samahni.
Chaudhry Muhammad Yasin, who won continuously from the Charhoi constituency, faced defeat at the hands of Raja Muhammad Riyasat Khan while PPP has also leveled allegations of rigging here.
Sardar Umair Naeem of PML-N unexpectedly defeated former government minister Javed Iqbal Badhanvi from Nakyal, and power has once again returned to the family (nephew) of Sardar Sikandar Hayat.
From Sehnsa, Raja Asif, the nephew of late former government minister Raja Naseer Khan, defeated PPP leader Chaudhry Akhlaq, and from Khoiratta, Raja Ayaz Nisar, the son of former government minister Raja Nisar Khan, defeated Waleed Inqilabi and Nisar Ansar Abdali.
From Samahni, Chaudhry Razzaq defeated the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party candidate Ali Shan Soni, who had won three consecutive elections.
