Field Marshal Asim Munir visits National Police Academy, reaffirms support for police

ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Nishan-e-Imtiaz (Military), Hilal-e-Jurat, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Force visited the National Police Academy, Islamabad on Tuesday, where he met and interacted with officers of the Police Service of Pakistan. The Federal Interior Minister and the Minister of State for Interior were also present on the occasion.

A statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that on his arrival at the Police Academy, the Field Marshal was warmly welcomed by the Commandant of the National Police Academy, while a well-dressed police contingent presented him with a guard of honour.

The Field Marshal laid a wreath at the Police Martyrs’ Memorial and offered Fateha and paid tribute to the police martyrs who laid down their lives to maintain peace, rule of law, and ensure public safety. He appreciated the immense sacrifices made by the police personnel in the face of the challenges of terrorism, crime, and internal security.

According to the ISPR, during the visit, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir was briefed about the School for High Impact Elite Law Enforcement Development, while he was also informed about the ongoing training programs and initiatives to enhance the capacity of the police and build it on modern lines.

Talking to the Cadet Assistant Superintendents of Police, the Field Marshal emphasized that the police play the primary defensive role in protecting the lives, property, and honor of citizens. He highlighted the importance of professionalism, integrity, and dedication in the performance of duties.

Addressing the Inspectors General of Police, Additional IGs, and senior police officers, the Field Marshal emphasized the need for inter-agency cooperation, promotion of modern policing methods, and strengthening public confidence. He said that a strong, professional, and people-friendly police force is indispensable for internal security and the rule of law.

The Field Marshal said that enforcing the law is a sacred responsibility of the police and reiterated that the Pakistan Army will always stand by the brave and proud police force of Pakistan.

The senior police leadership reiterated its commitment to further improve the quality of policing, enhance professional capabilities and take forward the necessary institutional reforms to address contemporary security challenges.
