ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and Punjab Human Organ Transplantation Authority (PHOTA) have jointly conducted a raid in Islamabad’s Sector F-7, arresting five people, including foreigners, on charges of human organs trafficking.

The arrested individuals include three Chinese nationals and two Pakistanis. The FIA spokesperson said that a large quantity of human placenta was recovered from the house, and a stock of fresh, dried, and processed placenta was seized.

It was further revealed that the Pakistani suspects were allegedly working with the Chinese traffickers as drivers and facilitators in the supply chain.

The accused were involved in obtaining human placentas from hospitals in Peshawar, Rawalpindi, and Lahore. The accused used to send the placenta abroad by disguising it as sheep organs.

The FIA said that the initial investigation revealed that the accused were exporting placenta to Vietnam, from where they were used in the manufacture of medicines. The accused established a network with the help of local facilitators.

According to the FIA, the recovered samples were sent to PIMS Hospital for medical examination. Further investigation is underway in this regard and all suspects have been shifted to an undisclosed location.
