ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The services of social media platforms Facebook and Instagram have been disrupted in several countries, including Pakistan.
According to outage-tracking websites Downdetector, complaints began rising sharply on June 12 as users reported error messages while attempting to access Facebook and Instagram.
Similar issues have also been reported on Instagram and the desktop version of WhatsApp, suggesting a broader disruption affecting Meta-owned platforms.
Many users also reported problems with the WhatsApp desktop service and Threads. Some were unable to log in, while others experienced slow loading times and connection errors.
Independent outage monitoring platforms registered a sharp increase in complaints during the same period, suggesting the disruptions were not confined to a single country or region.
As of the latest updates, Meta has not released a detailed explanation regarding the cause of the service disruptions.
The company had also not provided a specific timeline for the full restoration of services across its platforms.
