LEEDS (Kashmir English): At the end of the second day of the first Test between Pakistan and England, England scored 366 runs for the loss of 8 wickets and took a 195-run lead in the first innings against Pakistan.
The Pakistani team was all out for 171 runs in its first innings, in response to which England also showed excellent batting on the second day.
Jordan Cox played a brilliant innings of 73 runs for England, while Joe Root stood out by scoring 66 runs. Harry Brook played a brilliant innings of 91 runs and was only 9 runs away from a century. Dean Lawrence also scored 51 runs.
At the end of the game, Jamie Smith was not out on 16 and Jofra Archer was not out on zero runs, while England had a 195-run lead over Pakistan.
Ali Usman bowled well for Pakistan and took 5 wickets. Ollie Robinson took 5 wickets in Pakistan’s first innings, while Josh Tongue also dismissed 5 Pakistani players.
Abdullah Shafiq and Imam-ul-Haq were prominent in Pakistan’s first innings with 61 and 42 runs, but the Pakistani batting line-up could not resist the England bowlers for long, and the entire team was bowled out for 171 runs.
On the second day of the first Test, play was affected due to rain and a wet outfield, but England later consolidated their position.
