LONDON (Kashmir English): England set Pakistan a challenging target of 389 runs to win the second Test of the three-match series at Lord’s after being bowled out for 208 in their second innings.
England resumed their second innings at 177 for seven wickets after taking a significant lead over Pakistan.
However, Pakistan’s bowlers continued to apply pressure after the restart and wrapped up the English innings for 208 runs.
Dan Lawrence was the top scorer for England in the second innings, contributing a valuable 54 runs. Harry Brook also played a useful innings of 34 runs before the Pakistan bowling attack completed the job.
Mohammad Abbas was the standout bowler for Pakistan, claiming five wickets in England’s second innings. Mohammad Ali and Khurram Shahzad also bowled effectively, taking two wickets apiece.
Abbas had already made a significant impact in England’s first innings, where he claimed four wickets. With five more wickets in the second innings, the experienced pacer finished with an impressive match haul of nine wickets.
The second innings total of 208 gave England a substantial overall advantage after Pakistan struggled with the bat earlier in the match.
England had been dismissed for 290 runs in their first innings. Pakistan, however, failed to capitalize on the opportunity and were bowled out for just 110 runs in their first innings.
