ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Electricity consumers across Pakistan, including Karachi, could face an additional financial burden as power distribution companies have sought approval from the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) to recover Rs23.33 billion through a quarterly tariff adjustment.

The request covers expenses for the July-September 2026 period. NEPRA is scheduled to hold a hearing on November 17, after which it will decide the amount, if any, to be passed on to consumers.

The distribution companies have proposed recovering Rs38.92 billion in capacity charges and Rs5.597 billion in operations and maintenance expenses. The application also includes a Rs29.25 billion reduction linked to the incremental package.

The proposed adjustment, if approved, would affect consumers across the country, including those served by K-Electric. The final tariff impact and recovery terms will depend on NEPRA’s determination.
