ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) on Friday hiked electricity prices by Rs 2.6 per unit across the country as part of the monthly fuel adjustment for July 2026.
As per the notification, the increase in electricity rates will apply to consumers across the country, including K-Electric.
It stated that the additional charges will be recovered from consumers through their September electricity bills. The additional burden of Rs 33 billion will be transferred to consumers from the July fuel price adjustment.
Nepra has also increased electricity prices by Rs 0.52 per unit under quarterly adjustments across the country. The authority has sent the decision on the quarterly adjustment for April to June 2026 to the federal government.
The quarterly adjustment will be applicable from September to November 2026. It will also apply to K-Electric consumers.
The quarterly adjustment will impose an additional burden of Rs 12.67 billion on consumers, Nepra said.
Lifeline prepaid consumers and electric vehicle (EV) charging stations will remain exempt from the increase, according to the notification.
The monthly fuel price adjustment is determined on the basis of changes in the prices of fuel used to generate electricity, due to which the bills of consumers are increased or decreased.
Increase in August bills

The Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) had requested an increase of Rs 1.20 per unit under the monthly fuel adjustment. However, Nepra raised only Rs 0.75 per liter following scrutiny of the data.
