ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): As the Eid ul Adha starts on June 7, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast duststorms and rain-thunderstorms in the upper parts of the country from June 02 to June 05 with occasional gaps.

Meanwhile, the Met Office predicted that plain areas of the country will likely experience very hot and dry weather during the Eid holidays.

The meteorological department further forecasted that moist currents are penetrating into the northeastern parts of the country, and a westerly wave is also likely to approach the upper parts on June 3.

PMD forecasted rain and thunderstorms on Eid-ul-Adha in Dir, Swat, Chitral, Kohistan, and Mansehra from June 07 (evening/night) to June 09.

Under the influence of this weather system, duststorm and rain (isolated heavy falls/hailstorm) are expected in Kashmir, Gilgit Baltistan, Murree, Galliyat, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Malakand, Mansehra, Battagram, Shangla, Kohistan and Abbottabad from June 02 (evening/night) to 05 with occasional gaps.

Furthermore, duststorm and rain (isolated heavy falls/hailstorm) are also expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mianwali, Sargodha, Hafizabad, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Faisalabad, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Haripur, Peshawar, Mardan, Swabi, Nowshera, Charsadda, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Orakzai, Kurram, Kohat, Bannu, Karak, and Waziristan on June 03 (evening/night) and June 04 with occasional gaps.

A duststorm is also expected in southern Punjab during the period.

Eid ul Adha holidays

The federal government on Friday officially announced a four-day public holiday on the occasion of Eid ul Adha 2025, starting from Friday, June 6.

The notification issued by the Cabinet Secretariat stated, “The Prime Minister has been pleased to declare 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th June, 2025 (Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday) as public holidays on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha.”

The four-day holiday from June 6 to June 9 will be observed by both all government offices and institutions, observing a five and six days’ working week.

The notification states that the holidays have been declared in continuation of the Cabinet Division’s circular dated December 23, 2024, regarding public and optional holidays.
