LONDON (Kashmir English): The English Cricket Board has announced the removal of Brendon McCullum from the position of head coach of the England Test team.

However, he will continue to carry out the responsibilities of head coach of England’s white-ball teams.

According to the ECB, Brendon McCullum’s four-year term as head coach of the Test team has come to an end, after which the board has decided to bring in new leadership for the Test team.

ECB Chief Executive Richard Gould said that McCullum breathed new life into the England Test team and achieved several memorable victories, but now the time has come for a change in view of the goal of winning the Ashes series.

Brendon McCullum said in his statement that he was proud to coach the England Test team and was grateful to the players, coaching staff and fans.

He said that he was disappointed with the decision but respected it, while now his full focus will be on making the white-ball teams more successful.

On the other hand, according to British media, Brendon McCullum has been fired from coaching the Test team.

The report says that the English board made this decision after the defeat in the recent Test series against New Zealand. England will now look for a new Test head coach before the Test series against Pakistan.

Brendon McCullum took over the coaching of the England Test team in 2022 and, together with Ben Stokes, promoted an aggressive style of play that gained fame in cricket circles as “Bazball”.
