MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Election Commission has rejected a total of 41 nomination papers across all constituencies of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly elections, which are scheduled to be held on July 27.
According to the election commission spokesperson, a total of 1,265 candidates have filed nomination papers from all 45 constituencies, which include 1,047 from 33 constituencies of Azad Jammu and Kashmir and 218 from 12 refugee constituencies located in Pakistan.
The spokesperson said that the commission has completed the scrutiny process of nomination papers, adding that candidates have been allowed to challenge the rejection of their nomination papers through the appeals process from June 25 to June 28.
So far, 12 appeals have been filed before the Election Commission, it said. The hearings on appeals will be conducted on June 29 and June 30, while the decisions on the appeals will be announced between July 1 and July 2.
