Earthquake of magnitude 5 jolts Layyah, surrounding areas

LAYYAH (Kashmir English): Earthquake tremors were felt in the Layyah district of Punjab and its surrounding areas.

The tremors were felt throughout the district, after which citizens came out of their homes in panic and started reciting the Kalima Tayyaba.

According to the Seismological Center, the  Layyah earthquake measured 5.0 on the Richter scale, while its depth was 20 kilometers underground.

According to reports, the epicenter of the earthquake was located about 50 kilometers east of Layyah.

Earlier, A strong  5.0  magnitude earthquake jolted Quetta and various districts of Balochistan on Sunday night.

The National Seismic Monitoring Center of the Meteorological Department said that many other cities of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) provinces felt the quake.

The magnitude of the earthquake was recorded at 5.4, and the depth was 25 kilometers. The epicenter of the earthquake was 65 kilometers west of Quetta.

No immediate reports of casualties or damage have been received.
