ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Pakistani actor Danish Taimoor has issued a clarification after receiving criticism for his recent heartfelt farewell message to football star Cristiano Ronaldo.
In a post shared on his Instagram, Danish Taimoor wrote, “I started watching football because of you. I grew up with your matches, celebrated your goals like they were my own, and felt every defeat as if it belonged to me.”
The social media users suddenly pointed out the line, “I grew up with your matches,” saying that the footballer is two years younger than him, questioning how Danish grew up seeing him.
So, unless Taimoor could see into the future as a child, netizens found the line a bit misleading, to say the least.

Responding to the criticism, in a post on Instagram, Taimoor said that his words were misinterpreted, even though he was only meant to pay tribute to his favorite player.
The actor has stated that his words were just an expression of opinion.
“I grew up (from my 20s to my 40s, #43 right now, Allahumdulilah) watching Ronaldo’s career. Didn’t know I had to explain what ‘grew up’ means. Hahahahahah,” he wrote.
He further said that some of you are fighting grammar harder than your team fights in knockout games. “And yes… he’s still the GOAT. Period,” he concluded.
After Danish Taimur’s explanation, a large number of users on social media came out in his support. Many fans said that it was just an emotional statement that was turned into an unnecessary controversy.
One user commented that ‘the haters have got the best answer’. While another wrote that ‘true fans already understood the meaning of the first post’.
Another user said that ‘it was just a statement, people try to make everything controversial for no reason’.
It should be noted that Danish Taimur has been a football enthusiast for a long time and has expressed his liking for Cristiano Ronaldo on several occasions. After his latest explanation, the matter has once again become the center of attention on social media, where the majority of fans seem to support the actor’s stance.
