MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The Chief Justice of the Azad Kashmir High Court has approved that the high court and all other subordinate courts will remain closed on Thursday, May 22, 2025.
The notification issued on Wednesday stated that the courts will be closed in observance of a day of mourning over the death of former Vice Chairman Bar Council, Advocate Sardar Mushtaq Shaheen.
As per details, the notification applies to the AJK High Court headquarters in Muzaffarabad and its circuit branches in Mirpur, Kotli, and Rawalakot. The district courts, including Qazis courts, will also observe the full day closure tomorrow.
Advocate Sardar Mushtaq Shaheen died earlier today, and his funeral prayers were offered at Darul Uloom Palandri.
Several judicial officers, lawyers, political and social leaders, members of the Bar Council, former Prime Minister Muhammad Yaqub Khan, former Chief Justice of the High Court Azhar Saleem Babar, and former Justice of the Supreme Court Sardar Abdul Hameed Khan attended his funeral prayers.
On this occasion, Fateha was offered for the deceased, and prayers were offered for his elevation.
