ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The intensity of cold has increased across various cities of Pakistan, with Skardu witnessing a minimum temperature of minus 10 degrees Celsius.
Meteorological officials reported that Gilgit recorded a low of minus 6 degrees, causing the water in ponds and canals across Gilgit-Baltistan to freeze.
Other areas recorded chilling lows, including Para at minus 4°C, and Quetta, Kalat, Babusar, and Astore at minus 3°C.
Murree and Peshawar saw minimums of 2°C, while Muzaffarabad and Islamabad recorded 3°C.
According to the Meteorological Department, the cold and dry weather will continue in most districts of Punjab.
Murree, Galiat, and surrounding hilly areas are expected to experience extremely cold conditions, with fog likely in the morning in cities including Sialkot, Narowal, Gujranwala, Lahore, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Multan, Bahawalpur, and DG Khan.
Balochistan will also experience cold and dry conditions, particularly in hilly areas, during morning and night hours. Meanwhile, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan are expected to remain extremely cold and dry, with occasional fog in some areas during the morning.
Residents are advised to take necessary precautions against the ongoing cold wave.
